FAQs

  • Each appointment begins with a thorough consultation where Duygu takes time to explore your full medical history, current symptoms, lifestyle and the reason you’re seeking treatment. She may also ask detailed questions about your sleep, digestion, stress levels and emotional wellbeing to get a holistic picture. Tongue and pulse diagnosis are also used to help determine the most appropriate treatment approach. After the consultation, acupuncture needles are gently inserted and retained for up to 20 minutes, when you’ll have time to relax while the treatment takes effect in a calm and supportive environment.

  • Absolutely, Duygu is trained in additional modalities like gua sha, cupping, Reiki and Tui na which may be incorporated into your treatment when appropriate and free of charge. She will assess your individual needs during each session and include these therapies if she feels they will enhance the effectiveness of your treatment. All techniques are explained beforehand and your comfort is always the priority.

  • The number of sessions varies depending on the individual and their reason for seeking treatment.

Acupuncture works cumulatively, so a series of treatments is usually recommended, especially at the beginning. Chronic conditions may take longer to respond.

    • For menstrual or hormonal issues, weekly sessions for 3–6 months are typically advised.

    • For cosmetic acupuncture, a course of 8–10 weekly sessions is recommended initially, followed by maintenance treatments every 4–6 weeks.

After your initial consultation, Duygu will provide a personalised treatment plan and adjust it over time based on your progress.

  • You are encouraged to wear loose, comfortable clothing to allow access to areas such as the lower legs, arms, abdomen or back. It’s advisable to have a light meal or snack beforehand, as treatment on an empty stomach may cause lightheadedness. After the session, it’s best to rest, stay hydrated, and avoid strenuous activity for a few hours to allow the body to fully benefit from the treatment.

  • We accept card or cash payments at your appointment.

  • As a member of the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC), treatments are recognised by many health insurance providers. You can view a list of participating insurers here, but please check with your provider for details of your individual cover. Invoices are available upon request.
